Product Overview
A Butterfly or scalp vein set, also known as a winged infusion set, is a specialized device used for drawing blood from a vein and giving medication or intravenous (I.V.) therapy into a vein. The butterfly's precise placement facilitates venipuncture of thin, "rolling", fragile, or otherwise poorly accessible veins. The butterfly's shallow-angle insertion design facilitates venipuncture of very superficial veins, e.g., hand, wrist, or scalp veins (hence name "scalp vein" set).
It consists of a hypodermic needle, two bilateral flexible wings, flexible small bore transparent tubing (20-35 cm long), a connector (female Leur). Sizes 8-24G (22 and 23G are most common).
