Product Overview
Intravenous (IV) cannulation is a technique in which a cannula is placed inside a vein to provide venous access. Venous access allows sampling of blood, as well as administration of fluids, medications, parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy, and blood products.
The cannula is to give you medication or fluids that you are unable to take by mouth or that need to enter your blood stream directly. There is a small coloured cap on the outside of the cannula. It is important the cap remains closed to help prevent infection.
